Meetings and Hearings
The Victim/Witness Advocates will accompany victims and witnesses to meetings with the Commonwealth's Attorneys and to court hearings.
Victim Resources
We are able to refer victims to resources that can help them both navigate the court system and manage life during this trying time. This can include resources for housing and counseling.
Emotional Support
The Victim Witness advocates are here to listen to your story with compassion and offer encouragement and reassurance that we will help you through this process. We are here to help in your time of need.
Victim Rights
Our office keeps victims informed about their rights. This includes their rights regarding the Virginia Victims Fund and Restitution.
Information
Our office keeps victims informed throughout the criminal justice process. This includes informing them of court dates and other major events, scheduling meetings with the Commonwealth's Attorneys, and explaining the court process.
Protective Orders
Our office is available to assist victims in filing protective orders. We cannot give legal advice, but we can help you make sure the forms are filled out properly and accompany you during court hearings to make sure you are comfortable during the process.
