Garry Lordahl was arrested on January 27, 2020, for one count of strangulation and one count of forcible sodomy involving an adult female victim.  He was held without bond.  The case was originally set for a preliminary hearing on April 16, 2020, but was moved by the Court due to the COVID pandemic.  It was rescheduled for June 4, 2020, but continued again as the victim was ill and could not testify.  On July 21, 2020, the Court held the preliminary hearing and the charges were certified to the Amherst County Circuit Court.

On August 31, 2020, Lordahl entered pleas of guilty to both charges.  He was sentenced to a total of 10 years of active incarceration.  Upon his release, he will be on probation for a period of 30 years with the first 5 being supervised.  He will also be required to register with the Virginia State Police Sex Offender Registry and have no contact with the victim.
