Paul Mansford Hicks was arrested on March 3, 2025, on 20 counts of possession of child pornography and held with no bond.  The arrest came after an investigation by Inv. Escher with the Amherst County Sheriff’s Office which involved obtaining a search warrant for Hicks’ cellphone.

Hicks waived his preliminary hearing on April 28, 2025, and was indicted by the grand jury of the Amherst County Circuit Court on June 10, 2025.  On September 8, 2025, Hicks pled guilty to all 20 charges and was sentenced to 5 years incarceration on each charge for a total of 100 years.  Eighty-seven years were suspended, leaving an active incarceration of 13 years.  Upon his release, Hicks was ordered to be on supervised probation for a period of 5 years, good behavior for 30 years and register with the Virginia State Police Sex Offender Registry.
