Travis Desmond Sentenced - 11 years

Travis Scott Desmond was sentenced to an active term of incarceration of 11 years on April 8, 2024, in the Amherst County Circuit Court for the distribution of methamphetamine within Amherst County. Upon his release, Desmond will be on supervised probation for a period of 2 years followed by a period of unsupervised probation for 38 years. Desmond is still awaiting trial and could face additional active time for probation violations in Amherst County and the City of Lynchburg.
Desmond was arrested on February 16, 2023, after the execution of a search warrant on his home in Amherst County uncovered a significant amount of methamphetamine. The search warrant was the culmination of an investigation by the Virginia State Police Central Virginia Drug and Gang Task Force. Desmond was arrested on February 16, 2023, for distribution of a schedule I/II drug and has been detained at the Blue Ridge Regional Jail without bond since.
This arrest and sentencing was achieved with the cooperation of multiple agencies to include the Amherst County Sheriff’s Office, Amherst County Commonwealth Attorney’s Office, Campbell County Sheriff’s Office, Appomattox County Sheriff’s Office, and the Virginia State Police.
